Kelsang’s family hails from Gyangtse, Central Tibet. She is the middle child with an older and a younger brother. In 2015, she graduated from State University of New York, University at Buffalo with an M.B.A. in Finance and Management Consulting. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance in 2009 from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu.
Kelsang worked at Namgyal Higher Secondary School from 2009 to 2013 where she taught English language to Himalayan students. In August 2013 she got selected for State Department funded, Tibetan Scholarship Program, to study in US University for a Master’s Degree. She interned with The Tibet Fund head office in NYC in the summer of 2015 working on a Tibetan entrepreneurship research project. She later joined the Tibet Fund field office in Himachal Pradesh, India to work on Tibetan Health System Capacity Strengthening Project as a Deputy Project Director. In August 2015 she came back to Nepal and worked for The Tibet Fund as Monitoring and Evaluation consultant.
